MICROPHONES Death (XL)

Phil Elverum remains a one-man industry of brittle, bleeding lo-fi pop as Mount Eerie. But early-doors between 1996 and 2003 his first major project was The Microphones - part of the Olympia, Washington scene around seminal K-Records, started by Beat Happening's Calvin Johnson - home to the beginnings of Beck, Modest Mouse and other since mainstream acts. All the Microphones albums are enormously collectible and recently re-pressed by Phil as part of his PW Elverum & Sons cottage industry. But good Tees are harder to find. This is a K Records classic IMHO.
